Story & Atmosphere
Located in the heart of Downtown Dubai on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Karak House Restaurant offers diners a taste of Punjabi flavors with a contemporary touch. This eatery has quickly become a talking point for those seeking authentic yet accessible Indian cuisine near the iconic Burj Khalifa.
The restaurant’s standout appeal lies in its fast, attentive service and spacious seating, making it suitable for both family outings and casual visits. The bustling atmosphere reflects its growing popularity, though occasional rush hours can affect the dining experience.
When it comes to the food, Karak House presents a mixed canvas. Their chicken dishes, such as Chicken 65 and Chicken Varhadi, shine with tender meat and well-balanced spices that capture traditional Indian culinary depth. The biryani also earns praise for its flavor and texture, offering a satisfying meal. However, some classic favorites like Butter Chicken reveal inconsistencies, with the gravy leaning too sweet and veering towards a tomato-heavy taste, while the butter naan has drawn criticism for its texture.
One cannot overlook the lassi here—a true emblem of Punjabi hospitality. The authentic, cooling lassi refreshes and soothes, bringing that quintessential desi vibe to the table. This beverage alone has won the hearts of many visitors, often described as soulful and invigorating.
Despite some critiques on the food’s balance and the occasional overpowering sweetness in the gravies, Karak House Restaurant stands out for its authentic spice profiles, generous portions, and swift service. It’s a place where traditional Punjabi flavors meet the vibrant energy of Dubai’s culinary scene—a promising destination for those eager to explore Punjabi dhaba-style cuisine with a modern flair.
“ We order Butter chicken and butter naan. The butter naan was no less than a rubber . 1/5 for butter naan Butter chicken:- Gravy was sweet and it was just tomato curry , chicken was well cooked so i liked that. 3/5 for butter chicken. This place is overhyped in my opinion. ”
“ Tried out the New Punjabi Dhaba recently. Food? Just okay – nothing to write about. The service, however, is surprisingly fast – your order might reach before your thoughts settle! Everyone kept hyping the lassi: “Bhai, must try hai!” But honestly? It's just okay-okay. Nothing magical, just a regular sweet sip. Now, the seating... Let’s just say the tables are so close, you don’t need to ask what your neighbor is eating – just take a peek and copy their order. It’s that intimate. Compact space, decent food, ultra-fast service. Baki sab theek hai. Ek baar try kar sakte ho – bas expectations ko thoda tight fit kar lena, jaise unki seating! ”
“ Had 2 meals in this restaurant. The chicken 65 and chicken varhadi was very soft and also juicy. The spices were just right. Also the briyani was good but there was too much rush.. otherwise overall experience was good ”
“ Ordered butter chicken from Swiggy. Chicken was delicious however the gravy wasn’t that good. Too much food color and had some different taste. Plus point on quantity can serve 4 people. ”
